Redmond, WA, June 18, 2010
– The Clarksville-Montgomery County 9-1-1 Center in Clarksville, Tennessee, is being awarded the Association of Public-Safety Communication Officials (APCO) International Horizon Award for a Small Center in large part due to its recently installed, state-of-the-art, Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1)-capable Zetron Series 3300 VoIP 9-1-1 Call-Taking System.
The Horizon Award acknowledges the efforts of communications centers that have proactively assessed and met the technological and operational needs of their center, employees and service population.
According to an APCO announcement, the center was chosen for the award because its new equipment "…allow(s) a forward migration to upcoming NG9-1-1 standards without interrupting service and while maintaining current operational needs." The award will be presented at the APCO International 76th Annual Conference and Exposition in Houston, Texas, on August 3, 2010.
"APCO International is proud to honor … [the] Montgomery County E-911 Center with [this] award and call attention to the technological advancements they have made to enhance their life-saving services," APCO International Executive Director George S. Rice, Jr. said in an APCO announcement.
"We’re very honored to receive the award and proud of what we accomplished to receive it," said Clarksville-Montgomery County 9-1-1 Center Director, Loretta Bryant. "We installed only the second Next-Gen-ready PSAP in the state. The transition went smoothly, the system required minimal training, and it has been running very well for us ever since."
